Maalik ibn Anas (radhi-yallaahu 'anhu) said:
((Whoever does not love knowledge, then there is no good in him; So there should not be any acquaintence between you and him, and nor any friendship)).

Abu Muhammad Abdullaah ibn Abee Zayd al-Qayruwaanee said:
"He replied: that such an act is considered Makruh [reprehensible] if there is somebody inside [present in] the Masjid, praying Salaah, because that person will get distracted by the loud recitation."

What is the ruling concerning carrying the Qur-aan in ones lower side pocket, while keeping in mind that there are those who say it is impermissible?
It is not befitting to place the Qur-aan in ones [lower side pocket by the] knee/thigh, it should be carried [in ones upper pocket] by the chest. Carrying it in ones lower pocket by the knee is a form of degradation to it because if that person sits down, the Qur-aan would be upon the floor, so one should not carry it by the knee.
One should place it in his upper pocket by his chest or carry it in his hands, as for putting it in his lower pocket by his knee where if he were to sit down the Qur-aan would be on the floor, doing this is not befitting and should not be done.

لا ينبغي وضعه في الركبة يوضع في الصدر أما في الركبة فيه إهانة له لأنه عند المقعده وإذا جلس صار في الأرض فلا ينبغي وضعه في الركبة وذلك يوضع في الجيب الذي في الصدر أو يحمله بيده أما جعله في الركبة التي عند مقعدته وإذا جلس صار على الأرض فلا ينبغي هذا ولا يليق |
