On the authority of al-Baraa ibn 'Aazib (radhi-yallaahu 'anhu) who said: While we were with the Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam), he suddenly looked towards a group (of people) and said:
((For what reason have they gathered here?))
It was said: In order to dig a grave.
So the Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) became alarmed and startled and he quickly went ahead of his Companions until he reached the grave, then he knelt upon it, and I turned my face towards him (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam), in order to see what he was doing. He (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) cried until the earth became wet with his tears, then he turned to us and said:
((O my brothers! Prepare for a day like this)).

Shaykh Ubayd ibn `Abdillaah al-Jaabiree said:
"If a scholar sees that his students or the people of his country have left off the knowledge of `Aqeedah, `Ibaadah (worship), and Mu`aamalah (dealings between people) and they turned to refutations, then of course he would warn them and say: "Do not busy yourselves with refutations.""

Noble Shaykh, there are a lot of Christians who accept Islaam and then end up following a methodology other than the methodology of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah, such as the Sufeeyah and Shee’ah. Are they considered to be disbelievers due to following a methodology other than that of Ahlus Sunnah and the Salafus Saalih, or do we judge them according to the sect they follow?
If a non-Muslim embraces Islaam, affiliates himself to it and then joins an innovated sect, he then takes the ruling of that sect.
If he involves himself in innovations that are within themselves a form of disbelief, he is considered to be a disbeliever and his conversion from Christianity to this innovation would not have benefited him. If these innovations do not lead to disbelief then he is not considered to be a disbeliever.
However Ahlus Sunnah should search for and properly receive those who embrace Islaam on their own. Because it is extremely likely that they accepted Islaam due to their own desire, and then an innovator approaches them and harms them by saying: “This innovation is a part of Islaam” and so they practice it.
