Question: I wore a skullcap whilst I was in the state of ihraam during the last hajj; I was unaware [of it's prohibition], so am I required to make an expiation? And if it is so - and I do not have enough money for it - then what should I do, may Allaah reward you with good?

Response: In the name of Allaah, and all praise is due to Allaah (alone)...if you were ignorant [of the prohibition] and wore a headscarf or a skullcap on your head, or you had forgotten, then there is nothing (expiation) required of you, and all praise is due to Allaah (alone).
