Shaykh Saalih ibn Fowzaan al-Fowzaan said:
"There is no harm in [extending] greeting(s) [on the occasion of] the beginning of the month of Ramadhaan, because the Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) used to extend glad tidings to his companions on the arrival of the month of Ramadhaan..."

Shaykh Saalih as-Suhaymee said:
"After looking at the website "Madeenah.com", which is supervised by the esteemed Shaykh Khalid ibn Qasim ar-Raddadee (may Allah preserve him) and administrated by a group of Islamic University of Madeenah graduates from the West, I have found it to be a valuable, beneficial, salafi website which focuses on the translation and dissemination of statements and fatwas by the Imams of Ahlus Sunnah and Salafi Mashaayikh. It aims to clarify the correct methodology while avoiding extremism, useless gossip, and distortion of the scholars' statements to make them mean what they did not intend."

Question: Sometimes we hear some students of knowledge criticising the scholars, saying that they are silent when certain events, tragedies and catastrophes occur. So what is your comment regarding this O Noble Shaykh?
Response: Sometimes maintaining silence is more appropriate, and sometimes speaking is more appropriate. The scholars pay attention to the attainment of good and the repelling of evil and harm, and they don't speak except when speech is beneficial. Similarly, they remain silent when silence is more appropriate.
So the true scholars do not remain silent except when silence is appropriate, and they don't speak [about affairs] except when speech is appropriate.
When such events take place, it is not correct that everyone speaks about them; rather it is the responsibility of the people of knowledge, the people of expertise and those of authority. Just as Allaah the High and Majestic said:
{And when there comes to them information about [public] security or fear, they spread it around. But if they had referred it back to the Messenger or to those of authority among them, then the ones who [can] draw correct conclusions from it would have known about it.} [Soorah an-Nisaa 83]
So the affairs relating to the welfare of the general Muslims and the Ummah, only the people of authority deal with them and also the people of knowledge and foresight, who seek for the correct way to resolve the issue.
As for every individual taking it upon himself to deal with it and to talk about it, then this is what causes harm upon the Muslims; spreading false rumours and fear amongst the Muslims such that the Muslims never attain any solution.
This also could be from the secret affairs that are being dealt with in private and should not be dealt with openly in front of the people, but rather in secret and in the correct manner.
These affairs need reflection and contemplation. It is obligatory for the general people to return to the people of knowledge, foresight and sound opinion in these affairs.
