A clarification from the Permanent Committee for Knowledge Based Research and Legal Verdicts regarding: A call to unity and shunning division and splitting.

All praise is due to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds; the good ending is for the people of Taqwa; may Peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allaah Muhammad, his family and all his companions.

As for what proceeds:

Indeed calling to Allaah is from the most noble of actions and those who call to Allaah are from the best of people in speech as Allaah the most High said:

{And who is better in speech than he who invites to Allah, and does righteous deeds, and says:‘I am one of the Muslims} [Surah Fussilat: 33]

They are the inheritors of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam) – in taking knowledge and spreading it; for indeed the scholars are the inheritors of the prophets, and from the characteristics of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam) was love for the Muslims, gentleness with them, teaching them and showing goodness to them. Indeed it has saddened us, that which we hear from some of the callers who ascribe to Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah, we see from them harshness and coarseness against their brothers; busying themselves with the honour of their brothers, the callers; gathering their shortcomings and broadcasting them.

They consider this to be an act of worship whereby they seek closeness to Allah by virtue of it.

As for what this contains from incorrect differing which splits the ranks of the believers in their Masaajid and their societies; it occupies them from giving Da’wah and rectification. Allaah has prohibited this in His saying:

{Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects, you are have no concern over them in the least} [08:159]

He (the Exalted) said:

{And hold fast to the rope of Allah,and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allah’s favor on you, for you were enemies of one another but he joined your hearts together,so that, by His grace, you became brethren, and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire and he saved you from it. Thus Allah makes his signs clear to you, that you may be guided} [03:103]

When the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasalam) sent Mu’adh and Abu Musa to Yemen, he said to them:

Make ease and do not create difficulty; give glad tidings and do not cause (people) to flee; obey and do not differ

We have come to know that some Muslims in the West when they saw this differing, they began to doubt the correctness of the religion of Islaam in unifying the Muslims. So this differing is a calamity which has divided the Muslims.This calamity has blocked people from guidance to the religion of Islaam and has occupied the students of knowledge from Da’wah and conveying the inheritance of the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasalam).

The Permanent Committee calls all the callers to Allaah, and the Imaams of the Masaajid to uniting the Muslims, purifying their hearts, unifying their ranks, and also being careful not to become a means of causing discord among the Muslims and causing enmity between them and busying some of them with others in oppression and enmity.

He who calls to sin will have the share of it and the burden of the one who perpetrated it to the Day of Resurrection.

{وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ قَوْلا مِمَّنْ دَعَا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا وَقَالَ إِنَّنِي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ}

{إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا شِيَعًا لَسْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ}

{وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ كُنْتُمْ أَعْدَاءً فَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُمْ بِنِعْمَتِهِ إِخْوَانًا وَكُنْتُمْ عَلَى شَفَا حُفْرَةٍ مِنَ النَّارِ فَأَنْقَذَكُمْ مِنْهَا كَذَلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ}
