Question: You mentioned – May Allaah preserve you – that from amongst the main principles of Creed (‘Aqaa’id) in the religion (Deen), is that we give importance to the Creed of the people of the Sunnah (‘Aqeedat ahlu-us-Sunnah). We would like you – May Allaah preserve you – to emphasize on the understanding of the Creed of the people of the Sunnah (‘Aqeedah Ahlus-us-Sunnah wa Jama’ah), because some youths begin by reading the profiles of misguided groups, and perhaps, they may fall into many errors. We hope you can direct us concerning this.

Response: You know that concerning the books of ‘Aqeedah, the first thing you begin with is the understanding of the ‘Aqeedah of Ahlu-us-Sunnah wa Jamaa’ah. After you have understood it, you then move on to the knowledge of what opposes it for the purpose of staying away from it. So do not busy yourselves with falsehood (baatil) and neglect the Truth (Haqq). You must know the Truth (Haqq) first, then know what opposes it from falsehood (Baatil); and do not learn knowledge by reading from books without being guided by the ‘Ulaamah (scholars).
